Marie-Josèphe Bourron was born in 1931 in Grenoble, France.
In 1966 she began studying sculpting at the École de la Ville de Paris. In 1972, she enters L'école des BEAUX-ARTS de Paris with ÉTIENNE MARTIN, works with CARDOT in stone and marble, and with PERRIN with metal.
Marie-Jo Bourron's nudes, usually executed in bronze, and on occasion in marble or aluminum, are provocative, yet tender, whether she depicts a single figure or a duo. Her understanding and sensitivity to form and materials are evident in each of her sculptures, and her use of polished and unfinished bronze or aluminum in one sculpture. Her idiom is both modern and traditional.
Marie-Jo Bourron travels frequently to Carrare, Italy for her marble, in Provence where she has a studio and in Germany to various quarries.
